Catalyst is an alternative break program at Hamline University. Through Catalyst, we examine different social issues during spring break while working with the communities that are directly affected by that issue. I personally participated in one trip, lead a trip and now, coordinate Catalyst trips as an executive member. We travel to different locations; all focusing on a different issue: Food Justice, Immigrant and Refugee Populations, Queer and Trans* Communities, Disaster Recovery, Hunger and Homelessness and Community Development. Catalyst has given me the skills to facilitate conversations on Social Justice and taught me how to teach on social justice, while maintaining professionalism when working with peers.
This the executive board for 2016-2017 Catalyst: Lauren Melzer, Kaele Culver and Merry Snyder (order left to right).
